Geocells for verge reinforcement
Geocells are a proven solution for the permanent (vegetated) reinforcement of road verges.
Geocells are a three-dimensional geosynthetic material made of HDPE. The honeycomb-shaped units are available in standard working widths of 0.60 and 1.00 m (construction height 15 cm).
Compared to unstabilized road shoulders with low load-bearing capacity, the use of SoilWeb® geocells significantly increases load-bearing capacity and shear resistance, resulting in greatly improved traffic safety.
Geocells are suitable for both temporary and permanent road shoulder constructions and reinforcements, especially when the road shoulder reinforcement is to be combined with greening.
The geocell units are flexible and can also be used in curved areas.
For road shoulders in the area of embankments, the reinforcement of the road shoulder can be combined with a multi-layer structure of SoilWeb® geocells to secure the shoulder (slope stabilization).
